200th Post - Yeehaw!

I just popped on to share a card I made last week (I forgot that I still had one more backlogged one to share), and I realized that it's my 200th post. Wow. I didn't think I had that much to say -- it turns out I have quite a big mouth! LOL

Anyhow, last week a dear friend of mine from a dry embossing group I belong to confided in me that she was mourning the loss of a pet bird she had had. I decided to send her a card that featured birds, but since I don't have many non-comical bird stamps, I needed to get a little creative.

I remembered that as part of a grab-bag at my local scrapbooking store, I had received some clear acetate bird images. At first I didn't know what to do with them, but I quickly put them all together, and came up with this card:

It's not my normal style, but I thought that for this occasion it was appropriate.

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink's "On a Limb"
Papers: Paper-Source's Creme Luxe, DP by Stampin' Up, Kraft Cardstock
Inks: Memento Brown, Colorbox Taupe and Mauve (for inking lace)
Accessories: Chipboard Frame, Gold Art Glitter, Acetate Bird Elements by My Mind's Eye, Silver Brad by Making Memories, Lace, Chipboard Accent Tile, Bullnose Clip by Oriental Trading Co.

On a different note, I wanted to take a quick moment to plug a fellow artist. When I need something artistic and specific, as much as possible, I try to stay away from big box stores and either shop at smaller local stores or at etsy.com, where online artists convene to sell their works. For me, it's important to encourage smaller businesses and to stimulate the crafty economy (and I can't stand the thought of walking in to a friend's house and finding the same thing I have hanging on my wall!).

This week, I was looking for a cool-looking clock for my craft room, and I happened upon Keith Moore's Work (seller pilotdesign on Etsy). He has a collection of streamlined-looking clocks that are modern, but not in that too-modern way. I ordered this one:

It came yesterday in record time (along with a nice note from Keith -- another reason I love buying from artists-- it's so much more personal!), and I couldn't be happier. It is even more interesting in person. I can't wait to hang it on my wall!

So, what are you waiting for?! Go give him some business!!! ;)

Okay, that's all for today. I'll be back tomorrow with something fun!

Have a good evening.
